Surrey Quays is an exciting new residential area on the southern banks of the Thames. Once very much an industrial area, over the last few years this riverside location has been regenerated by developers and now offers superb modern homes which are popular with investors and renters alike. Surrey Quays estate agent Benham & Reeves is based in the centre of this thriving residential area, at popular residential development Marine Wharf.
Its Zone 2 location makes Surrey Quays popular with professionals who commute into central London, Canary Wharf or the City. Historically, the area was known for its dockyards but today the SE16 and SE8 postcodes are mainly residential and the area is dotted with riverside walks, cycle paths, nature reserves and parks. An attractive option for the daily commute is the Thames Clipper service which offers perhaps the best commute to the office you’ll find anywhere! Canada Water underground station is nearby, also providing a short commute to the City and the West End. With renters now moving further East where they can find homes at more affordable prices, Surrey Quays is popular with young professionals in particular, offering a good mix of affordability, high spec homes, amenities and a good commute. Where do you live?
I live in Kennington.
Tell us something about your career? I have worked in the lettings business for 15 years. Previously with a corporate serviced apartment provider and then joined Benham & Reeves in 2003 as Manager of City office and then now also manage Canary Wharf office after we opened it in 2009. I am ARLA Propertymark qualified with the NAEA (NFOPP) qualification.
And an interesting fact about yourself? I found flats for Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Judd when they were in London filming - that was a pleasure!

The area has its own unique qualities, the River Thames is a real draw and it has a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere with a lot of modern accommodation like Marine Wharf where our branch is based. You can reach busier parts of London quickly from here as its very well connected.
Tell me a little about your property career & experience? I am enjoying building a career in lettings and am learning new things every day. I enjoy a dynamic environment where no day is the same and it’s a joy to help people find their ideal rental home, it's really rewarding.
What are your passions outside work and how do you relax? Travelling is my favourite pastime. I enjoy exploring new cultures and discovering different parts of the world. To relax, I love experimenting with new recipes and cooking delicious meals which makes me popular!

Tell me something about your career and what skills you bring to your role I have more than a decade of property experience and previously worked in an estate agency lettings team. I love the property scene and am quite a sociable character who enjoys assisting clients and colleagues in any way that I can.
What are your passions outside work? I try to keep fit so most days you'll find me in the gym after work.
Why do you like working in Surrey Quays? I'm fascinated by how Surrey Quays is developing; there are some great-value property developments here now which is really drawing in new people who may not have been familiar with the area before.
